Formation and evolution of the Solar System: from Newton to space explorations

Docente: prof. Luca Ciotti

After a concise introduction to the dynamics of the Solar System (orbits, tides, etc), complemented with some hystorical facts, I will provide a morfological-physical description of planets and satellites. We will then move on to the illustration of the  main scenarios of planet formation and orbital migration, and to a short discussion of our current understanding of the Solar System evolution in the distant future (i.e., on time scales of the billions of years from now).
